American automaker Ford, which owns a factory in Craiova, invests 200 million euros in the plant, the company's goal is to produce 250,000 cars annually on the local market.

In 2018, Ford produced 150,000 cars and 300,000 engines in Craiova, which led to the manufacturer being ranked as the second largest exporter of the economy after Dacia cars.

"Ford has turned the factory in Romania into one of the most modern in Europe. We are Romania's second - largest exporter, and the story doesn't end here,” said Andrew McCall, Vice President of government relations at Ford Europa.
Special attention should be paid to the technologies that are being introduced in production. The power-split architecture combines a 2, 5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine running in an Atkinson cycle, an electric motor/generator, and a 14, 4 kWh lithium-ion battery to produce 225 horsepower.
