The SUV produced in Craiova registered a major market success. With two models in production, the EcoSport and Puma, the Craiova plant is running at full capacity, and Ford estimates record production volumes in 2020. The goal is to produce 1,000 cars a day, one every 67 seconds.

As of October 2019, the Ford Craiova plant is building two compact crossovers, the Ford EcoSport and the recently launched Ford Puma, in parallel for the first time. SUVs continue to represent the segment with the highest growth at the European level. In 2019, a total of 5.9 million SUVs were registered, which is 10% more than the 5.4 million registered units in 2018.
The Ford Puma is already available in all European markets where Ford is present. Starting in the first part of this year, the model built in Craiova will also be exported to Australia. Thus, the Ford Puma is the first car produced in Romania to be delivered to this market.
